Cardiff International Airport (CWL) can be reached by road and rail, with a plethora of bus services running at all hours of the day as well as a new train line to the city centre and south-western Wales. National Express buses run to all parts of the UK, either directly or indirectly, and there is also a large fleet of taxis available for transfers into the city centre.

In addition, the M4 motorway is only a few miles away to the north. The city can be reached from the airport in about 30 minutes.


There are at least seven bus services that run between Cardiff International Airport (CWL) and the city centre throughout the week as well as dedicated services on Saturdays and Sundays. The main service is the X91, which runs to the city every 30 minutes, seven days a week, while Cardiff Bus X51 runs to the Central Bus Station and Railway Station every hour, with services B9 and V3 running on Sundays only. Bus X5 also runs on Sundays every two hours and services X45 and 345 run to the city centre and back hourly during the day and evenings respectively. National Express coaches run frequently to Cardiff Central Bus Station, from where services run to multiple UK-wide destinations.

Shuttle Buses

Cardiff International Airport (CWL) also has an Air Shuttle Bus transfer that runs directly to the Central Bus and Railway stations in central Cardiff. Shuttles are regular and depart from outside the main terminal, which is accessible on foot.


One of the best ways to reach Cardiff from Cardiff International Airport (CWL) is to make use of the new rail link with the city centre. Trains run to the city centre every hour, from where connections with the rest of the UK can be made, while there is also an hourly train in the other direction (west) to Bridgend, from where access to south-west Wales is made easy.
